1. RULES: Swimming South Africa rules apply.
2. REGISTRATION: Only swimmers registered with SSA and Nelson Mandela Bay Aquatics, 7 days prior to the closing date of entries are eligible to participate.
3. EVENTS: (A swimmer’s age is taken as on the 1st day of the Gala.)
Age Groups: 10 & under, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 & over
A swimmer may ONLY compete in his/her own age group.
Long Distance Events
200m Fly, 400m IM, 800m and 1500m Freestyle
Age Groups: 14 & under, 15 & over
Age Groups: 10 & under, 11-12, 13-14, 15 & over
Swimmers may swim up in age and only one age group per event. Teams must be finalized one (1) hour prior to the event. Swimmers must swim in the order as entered. Only registered swimmers may compete in relay teams.
4. TIMED FINALS: All events will be swum as timed finals and seeded according to entry times.
HEATS WILL BE SWUM - SLOWEST TO FASTEST
7. NORMAL ENTRY FEES:
Individual Events: R25,00
Relays: No Charge
Friday 20h00 1 week prior to the gala - Normal entry fee.
Saturday – Tuesday 17:00 - Late entry fees - 3x normal entry fee.
Extra Late entry fee (1 hour prior to the start of the gala) ONLY IF THERE IS A LANE AVAILABLE - 10x normal fee.
Relays will be limited to 2 teams per event - late entries will be accepted ONLY if there is a lane available.
Friday evening galas - scratchings will close at 20:00 on the Thursday evening.
Saturday galas - scratchings will close at 20:00 on the Friday evening. No scratchings will be accepted on the day of the gala unless the swimmer takes ill during the night. Scratchings must be e-mailed to the PDO. Only Team Managers/Coaches will be allowed to do the scratchings. Should the swimmer not report and miss the race, they will not be accommodated in another heat/event. Swimmers must be reminded that the wearing of 2 costumes, power bands, watches and bracelets are not allowed.
9. NO SHOW:
(N/S) A ﬁne of R200 (Two Hundred) per N/S will be imposed and the swimmer will not compete in any other event until the ﬁne has been paid.
Swimmers wishing to claim records must do so immediately after the race at the records room. Swimmers, Managers and Coaches are urged to notify the Chief Timekeeper and the Referee if they feel that a record time may be swum, as it is the requirement that three registered timekeepers are on the lane in the event of the ETD malfunctioning.
Races will be announced but no swimmer will be called individually to report to the Competitors Steward
12. The One start rule will apply.
13. FINA RULES:
The Referee's decision is ﬁnal in accordance with FINA rules
14. PROTESTS: Protests must be submitted in writing with a R500, 00 deposit to the Meet Referee within 30 minutes of the incident in question. The Referees decision is ﬁnal.
